Almost dreaming is a piece written for computer composition, one of my university modules. I was inspired sonically by the work of Jon Hopkins but decided to stretch myself by avoiding the typical restrain of rhythm that I impose on myself. You could perhaps argue that a melody emerges but I pose that anything ‘melodic’ is a bi-product of the piece. The intention is that the attention of the audience is on the texture and the evolving harmonies. This is in contrast to my piece, Polyslogue Bounces also written for university.
