Do They Know Its Christmas – Band Aid Monks Walk
At the beginning of my A2 year at school, upper 6th, I was thinking about arranging a finale for the school concert that we had every Christmas. I wanted to arrange something so everyone could be involved and everyone could have a part in something epic, given that it was a Christmas concert I decided on “Do They Know Its Christmas” as my song. I set about the arrangement based on an orchestral cover I had found on you tube and then with a bit more power in it.
It was later on that I was talking to someone about this project and the subject of charity arose and we started to think about how we could make some money for Charity, the idea of selling recordings of it were soon bouncing around so I took the proposal to the head teacher at one of her weekly meetings with the assistant head teachers and from there is was all systems go. I had the appropriate permissions to use the school facilities and to take students out of lessons to record them.
A friend of mine designed the album cover and a friend who had recently began his degree mixed and mastered the tracks for me. A group of us contributing. The CD had three versions of the track:
